1 New Opportunities in the Senior Phase Breadth of opportunity across the Senior Phase is growing – more flexible model with almost all subjects at almost all levels available to all pupils National Qualifications (NQs) are one aspect of the Senior Phase “Developing Scotland’s Young Workforce”

3 A 7 year journey… What will be different by 2021? Year 3 – 2016-17 “More schools will be delivering a broader range of qualifications for young people from S4-S6 in partnership with colleges and other providers”

4 SESAP (South East Scotland Academies Partnership) The Creative Industries Academy The Health and Social Care Academy The Hospitality and Tourism Academy S5 and S6 pupils wishing to discover the range of skills required to work in any of these sectors; selective and competitive entry process

5 National Progression Awards “Qualifications designed to assess a defined set of skills and knowledge in specialist vocational areas from childcare, to digital literacy, to enterprise skills.” NPAs provide those preparing for work with opportunities to develop skills much sought after by employers the main benefit is they encourage learners to think differently and aim higher!

7 Recognising Achievement This goes beyond academic attainment It has been shown recognising the achievements of all young people can help develop self-esteem, confidence and resilience
