2 Teacher and Student Log In Why? How does it help us? How do I do it? – Log on: User Name and Password – Log off: Start, Shut Down, Choose Log Off, OK – Restart: Start, Shut Down, Choose Restart, OK

3 Saving Files  Saving files to the X Drive  What is the X Drive?  Why do we have it?  How do I save on it?  Flash Drives  What are they?  How do I save on them?

4 File Management Create New Folders Organizing files and folders Rename files Copy, Cut, Paste

5 Working the Mouse Left Click – Opens folders – Highlights in word – Used most of the time- through all programs – One Click, Highlights – Double Click, Opens programs – Click and drag, can move most documents

6 Working the Mouse Right Click – Each Program has different options – Creates folders – Creates Short Cuts – Cut, Paste, Copy

7 Shortcuts Can save a lot of time Hard to remember Uses the Keyboard Can be in a document (word), in a folder or on the desktop

8 Shortcuts continued How to make desktop shortcuts – Right Click – New – Shortcut

9 Shortcut Continued – Browse (find the file or document that you want to create a shortcut to. ) – Go through the Wizard and the computer completes the process

10 Keyboard Shortcuts. Ctrl + c (copy) Ctrl + x (cut) Ctrl + v (paste) Ctrl + z (undo) Ctrl + p (print) Ctrl + a (select all) Ctrl + s ( save)

11 Taskbar Minimize (small line, top right corner) Restore (two boxes, top right corner) Maximize (One box top right) Resize (Tab at the bottom right of box) Move Window (click and hold on top blue bar) Switch between Windows (Bottom Task Bar) Close (The X, top right corner)

12 Moving Windows Moving windows – Minimize the window – Click and Drag on the top blue box – You can move around several windows to view them simultaneously.

13 Taskbar Found on the bottom Lets use easily go from program to program Lets you see what programs are all open

16 Bookmarks Make a bookmark of favorite websites – ISD 721 Website

17 Staff Resources Click on Staff Resources on the yellow menu bar Lots of resources for staff use – Squirrel Mail – Staff Directory Web Page – Lab Scheduler – nPrint

18 Squirrel Mail Staff Email Read a new message Open an attachment Delete message Send a message – District address book – Group message – Add an attachment

19 Squirrel Mail Manage messages with folders – Create a folder – Move messages to a folder

20 Staff Directory Web Page Access Teacher Information Online Long or Short form Login Updating Information Add a hyperlink Add a picture

21 Lab Scheduler Schedule a lab or technology equipment Select your school Choose the area you’d like to sign up for – C.O.W.S, Labs, etc. Select the day and time Log in Fill out form and save

22 nPrint Send a document directly to central duplicating Log in Fill out form Click Online Submission Submit Browse for file Upload file
