4 W HAT IS THE FAA F ORM ? Faculty Activity Assignment –Collection of data on how faculty and staff in each department spend their time –Collected after each semester

5 H OW FORMS ARE CREATED Office of the Registrar manages and updates system Planning, Research and Policy Analysis creates and sends FAA forms Department Chairs / Directors send instructors of records

8 S CENARIOS - Q UESTION 1 John Doe was assigned 100% direct instruction but does not have a course of record in courses tab. In the fall, John was responsible for writing a course syllabus and grading papers for another professor’s 100-level courses. What should John’s allocation be? A.100% Supervision of Student Teaching B.100% Indirect Instruction- Lower Division C.100% Department Overhead D.100% Indirect Instruction- Grad I

9 Q UESTION 1- A NSWER B. 100% Indirect Instruction- Lower Division Please do not assign an employee to the function of direct instruction or supervision unless there is a course record for which the employee is the instructor of record

During the spring semester, Jane was on sabbatical. What should Jane’s allocation be this spring? A portion of their allocation could be allocated in departmental research if in their regular duties they would have allocations in this function. Total appropriations must equal 100%.
