Homework Homework will fit into one of these five categories: 1.Remedial drill – This is an extension of work that has been introduced in class. This is used to help strengthen the child’s weak areas. 2.Research/Reports/Projects – This is work that involves the use of books and/or reference materials. It is often long term assignments. 3.Unfinished Work – This is work that is not completed in class and needs to be taken home to finish. 4.Review – This is work students need to do at home when studying and preparing for an upcoming test. 5.Reading – This is daily home reading done in preparation for monthly book reports.

Homework Cont.  Homework needs to be completed on time.  Parents should look over their child’s homework but not complete the assignments for them.  The majority of weekly assignments are due the next day.  Late and redone assignments will be accepted if turned in within a reasonable amount of time.  Most tests may be retaken if all assignments have been turned in.

Paper Heading  Students are to prepare class work and homework papers with the proper heading and never hand in a messy paper.  Students are expected to use their best penmanship at all times.  Every paper must have the student’s name, student’s number, date, subject, and assignment.

Absences  When returning to school after an absence, the student is responsible for getting the assignments that were missed.  Absent assignments should be turned in within a reasonable time frame.  Absent work can be picked up in the front office at 3:30. Please notify me before 12:00.  Parents can refer to the homework link on my web page to insure that their child has completed all of their assignments.

Classroom Library/Book Club Orders  All books in our classroom library are my personal property.  Books may be borrowed but must remain in the classroom.  Book club orders will be sent home approximately once a month. Purchasing your books from the school book order allows you to get great books at an inexpensive price and also allows our classroom to earn free books to help build our classroom library.  Checks must be made out to the individual book clubs. THEY DO NOT ACCEPT CASH!

Book Report Information  Each child must do one book report most months and sometimes a project to go with it.  Book choices need to be at the student’s reading level, a chapter book over 100 pages long, not a previous book read, and not made into a movie.
