2. Fun Facts Once ruled Arcaidia. Perseus asked Atlas for a place to stay and he refused, so Perseus showed Atlas Medusa’s head and he froze to stone, now known as Mount Atlas. Atlas was a titan who led the titans into a ten-year war against Zeus. After Zeus won and singled out Atlas he punished him and made him hold up the world FOREVER!!!!!

4. Short Story Now the heavens might be made mostly of cloud, but you'd be surprised how heavy they are. In fact it's a miracle they managed to stay up so long before Atlas showed up. So Atlas was very relieved when the laboring Heracules came along offering to give him a hand in return for a little help with some Golden Apples from the Hesperidies. Atlas nipped off to get the apples but wasn't inclined to resume his burden. "Here, hold this a minute while I scratch my back," said Heracules. And Atlas, not the brightest apple in the barrel, did so while Heracules made a sharp exit.
