2. For teachers only This is a continuation of lesson 3. Students will first engage in an editing session by having each student in their row read and make revision comments on their paper. Students will take 10 more minutes to revise their essay/story. Students who wrote newspaper stories in Lesson 1 and 2 will use today’s stories for TV news stories. Students who wrote TV news stories in lessons 1 and 2 will use their stories as newspaper stories. Following the same procedure you used in Lesson 2, have students create a newspaper using their stories, and create a TV news program using their stories. Be certain to have poster board and a video camera available.

4. Read Aloud Chapter 16 of Slow Way Home

5. Take out your stories from yesterday “An Interesting Guy, _____” or “An Interesting Girl,______”

6. Pass your story to the person behind you Read the story you’ve just received. Using a pencil, revise the essay adding information, or making suggestions about what might make the essay better.

7. At the end of ten minutes Pass the paper to the person behind you again. Continue until everyone on your row has read each essay. Return essays to the original writer.

8. Take 20 minutes To revise the essay, and prepare it for publication or presentation.

9. Newspapers Teacher: Appoint a lay-out editor, a headlines/story title editor and three copy editors. Lay the stories out on a poster board or on another large sheet of paper.

10. News Shows Give the group a video device Appoint a camera person, a director, and a news manager. Tape your news show
