2  Have an A, B, or C average for the semester in the subject area  Math placement may require a summer program, like Accelerate to Algebra  Advanced courses › These courses move faster and cover more material. › Students will be expected to do more! Are you ready for the challenge?

3  You can begin to earn high school credit in middle school.  Can you name the high school courses that are available at your school?  What are the advantages to taking these classes now?

4  Algebra I  Communication Applications  Spanish I and II  French I and II  Art I High school credit may be earned for these courses.

5  Be on track…take Calculus during the senior year. You will need to accelerate math to get there! › Be sure you are taking the most challenging classes you can—particularly in the subjects you are most interested in. › Taking the challenging classes now will provide you more academic opportunities later. › Impress yourself, your parents, your teachers, and your FUTURE COLLEGE!

6  Know the best way to make college affordable? Take college classes while you are still in high school!  How? Be sure to take challenging courses in middle school. You will need to PROVE you are college ready by being prepared academically!

7  College level courses (most begin in 11th grade)  AP—credit awarded through testing ($56 per test)  Dual Credit—qualify for course (college level skills) and pay $45 for each college class  12 hours of Dual Credit costs $156  12 hours at UT costs $10,000 Earn college credit in high school and save tuition money.
