1 MAHARASHTRA

2 GENESIS  Nirman began as an initiative of a group of NT- DNT students, studying in the field of social work.  Their focus is on emancipation of the most discriminated communities, officially termed as the NT-DNT. The aim of NIRMAN is to emancipate NT and DNT and bring about social change and democracy through education and mobilization.(DNT) De-notified and Nomadic Tribes )  Nirman believes in the values liberty, equality and fraternity for creating a just society.

4 Glance at Denotified and Nomadic Tribes ……  NT- DNT Population: India 60 million and Maharashtra: 5 million  Number of NT: 313 and DNT: 198 in India.  Sub Human Treatment on the basis of caste and tradition  Stigma of Criminality even after 1947

5 VISION A Society Reclaiming Human Personality to lead a dignified life.

6 MISSION  Capacity building of “NT-DNT” and marginalized communities to create and promote livelihood through advocacy and lobbying with the government.  Empowerment of NT-DNT and marginalized communities through education, gender and human rights awareness.

8 Objectives  To conscientize communities about stigma and discrimination to enhance their self esteem  To sensitize and create awareness about education in the communities.  To develop interest and motivate children for the education  To disseminate information regarding government schemes  To promote livelihood for socio-economic development  To Develop and strengthen community leadership
