2 Former Chancellor to lead EU Exit group “That’s a ‘Non’” Former Chancellor of the Exchequer, Nigel Lawson, has been made the President of the ‘Conservatives for Britain’ group that will campaign for a UK exit from the European Union when the referendum is held (possibly in 2017). Lawson thinks that David Cameron will fail to change EU policies as he originally planned. 1

3 Goldsmith chosen as Conservative Mayor Candidate All that glitters is not….. Zac Goldsmith will contest the 2016 London mayoral election for the Conservatives,. The Richmond Park and North Kingston MP said he was "honoured" after winning 70% of the 9,227 votes cast using an online primary system. Current Mayor, Boris Johnson, is to step down next year. 2

4 Shadow Defence Spokesperson rebukes her leader “That didn’t help……” Shadow Defence Spokesperson, Maria Eagle, criticised her own Party Leader for comments he made about using the Trident Nuclear Missile system. Jeremy Corbyn, a long time opponent to the use of nuclear weapons, has said that, if he were elected as Prime Minister, he would refuse to ever instruct the UK military to use nuclear weapons. Eagle disagrees with this stance. 3

5 Trump changes his view on Syrian Refugees “If I win, they’re going back.” Donald Trump, hoping to become the Republican Party candidate for the US Presidential election in 2016, has said that he would return all Syrian refugees. This is in contrast to a policy that he had already stated where he believed the USA should welcome more refugees. 4

6 Cameron Says ‘No’ to Slavery Reparations A Visit to the Windies…. UK Prime Minister has rejected calls from Jamaica that the UK should pay reparations to the country as compensation for the British involvement in the slavery trade. Some Jamaicans believe that current differences in wealth levels in the UK and the West Indian nation could be linked to British exploitation of African slaves several centuries ago. 5
