4 When it comes to the study of history Historians ask the questions Archeologists help historians answer these questions. But there is another scientist who helps out also called an anthropologist 1.What happened? 2.When did it happen? 3.Who was involved? 4.How and why did it happen?

5 Anthropology The scientific study of mankind, especially our human ancestors and cultures over time and across the world. Example: Anthropologists study how hunters and gatherers still live today and then they make theories about how they lived in the past.

6 The Different Disciplines Work with old artifacts to answer questions Work with old AND new artifacts to answer questions

7 For Example What can we learn from cave paintings? What can we learn from bones or teeth that we find? What can we learn from animal bones? What can we learn from tools?

8 Hominid Humans and their closest relatives. Example: Humans, chimpanzees and gorillas are all hominids.

9 Forager A hunter-gatherer, prehistoric men or cavemen. Example: Foragers are prehistoric people who foraged or searched the earth for food and shelter.
