Or longer than 6, please include a word count at the end.   Heading on p. 1 should be single spaced.   You must have a title…centered & underlined.   All pages beginning with the second should be numbered, preferably with your last name and the pg. number (example: Daywalt 3). If you can’t figure out how to do this using the computer…just hand write it.

3 … Parenthetical Documentation format…  General rule…(author’s last name page #)  If no author, use the title of the work.  If no author, use the title of the work. If you shorten the title, it must go in quotes in the parentheses. If the title is not abbreviated…NO QUOTES NEEDED!  PD always comes at the end of the sentence.  If you’ve used 2 sources in 1 sentence, do this…( )( ).  Every idea in your paper that came from your notes & is not something 100% created by you, MUST be followed by PD. You should have a MINIMUM of one In-Text Citation per paragraph (exceptions…INTRO and CONCLUSION paragraphs).

Stop at >html if it is a lengthy URL).

5 Last thoughts…   Some people still had thesis statements that needed work…in my experience, the better the thesis, the better the paper and the grade!   Use transitional sentences to tie together ideas from paragraph to paragraph AND to related ideas back to the thesis!!   Intro paragraph should be somewhat short in length…the intro includes GENERAL information and is intended to get the reader’s interest up. The intro MUST include your thesis.

6 Last thoughts continued…  The conclusion should restate (not verbatim) major ideas, may include your opinion/analysis, and lastly, should include a restatement of your thesis.  Paragraphs should be 4 to 6 sentences in length (not 1…not 1 page!!!)  Your paper should be scholarly, interesting and coherent!!  Read the Rubric (Grading Guide) distributed today as you prepare your Final Draft.  A final draft handout with additional info will be distributed Monday.
