2. Examples of family friendly activities scheduled at Glen Mar United Methodist Church: For ages 5 to 85 years old. There is free childcare from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm in room 239 Packaging meals for hungry (25,000 meals @ 25 cents) Kids Against Hunger (Youth Lounge and 111A)Kids Against Hunger Decorating cookies for inner city school teachers (9:00 am to 12:00 pm in room 126) Writing letters and drawing pictures for service members and others (rooms 123 and 124) Making Spiritual Bracelets for distribute to the homeless (indoor amphitheatre) Knitting for those in hospital or in need of care (children must be accompanied by adult) (room 126) Sewing pillow cases for ill children (children must be accompanied by an adult) (room 121) Making fishing kits for children in developing countries (room 122) Making no-sew blankets for graduating youths at the Board of Child Care (room 125) Cleaning toys and surfaces at the Early Learning Center (rooms 249 and 251) Health screening (blood pressure and BMI – 9:00 am to 12:00 pm by large window downstairs) Drawing a picture of a home and discussion (at 9:00 and 10:00 am in room 145) Discussions on Affordable Housing and Education issues (at 1:00 and 2:00 pm in room 145) Prayer Team for those with concerns on their hearts (9:30 am to 12:00 pm in Chapel) Food Drive at several local Giant Food Stores for Howard County Food Bank (9:30 am to 2:30 pm) Off-site Activities for 8 th graders and up. Younger children can participate if accompanied by an adult. Following orientation at 8:30 a.m., participants will caravan together to the local off-site locations at 9:00 a.m. and return when the job is complete (or by 4:00 p.m. at the latest). Those not staying the entire time should drive separately or arrange to be picked up at the work site.
