Draft Role Descriptions  Attending: An Attending Physician is a senior physician who supervises the medical team and is in charge of planning your treatment and coordinating your care.  Fellow: A Fellow is a physician who has completed residency training in a field such as medicine or surgery, and is undergoing additional sub-specialty training.  Resident: A Resident is a physician who is undergoing specialty training. The resident works with the attending to make decisions about managing your care and is your primary physician contact while you are in the hospital. 5
