Draft Role Descriptions Attending: An Attending Physician is a senior physician who supervises the medical team and is in charge of planning your treatment and coordinating your care. Fellow: A Fellow is a physician who has completed residency training in a field such as medicine or surgery, and is undergoing additional sub-specialty training. Resident: A Resident is a physician who is undergoing specialty training. The resident works with the attending to make decisions about managing your care and is your primary physician contact while you are in the hospital. 5

Draft Education Short 5-10 minute online module delivered via Healthstream All House Staff required to complete Video will feature Dr. Ann Weinacker (Vice Chief of Staff) and Medicine Chief Residents Stress “etiquette-based medicine”: − Ask permission to enter the room; wait for an answer. − Introduce yourself, showing ID badge. − Make eye contact. − Shake hands, sit down, and/or smile if appropriate. − Briefly explain your role on the team and offer the patient your teamcard. − Ask the patient how he or she is feeling about being in the hospital. 6
