 Family: passing serving dishes around the table  Buffet: allows people to help themselves  Plate: filling the plates in the kitchen and serving to seated guests  What type of food service does your family do on a typical family meal?

 Fast Food- carry out  Family- cafeteria style  Formal- maître d’  Seat down fancy restaurant ▪ Typically has a dress code beyond the usually shoes and shirts required  Specialty  Give an example of each type of restaurant

Formal Maitre d’ (Head waiter) Professional and expensive Family Home cooking/ cafeteria like Reasonably priced Fast Food Carry out/ quick service Inexpensive

 Remember your table etiquette  Remember you are not the only ones in the restaurant  Paying the bill  Tipping

 We know about acting right at the table  How about social etiquette?  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1jLauCJU 7h8 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1jLauCJU 7h8

 Your waiter or waitress provided you with a service  It is social norm to tip  What is tipping? (Not cow tipping)  How much do we tip?  During a dinning experience it is not acceptable to fumble in your wallet  Have the money you expect to spend ready before going out or bring a card

 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bSMo0F QiI3E https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bSMo0F QiI3E  So when tipping you still do not want to fumble with your money or phone to determine the amount you want to tip

 I went to a lovely steak house and like my server. As a result, I plan to tip 20% of my bill  If my bill was $50 dollars this is how I would calculate the tip without a calculator: ▪ Move the decimal point over 1 ($50~$5) ▪ This is 10% -Multiple by 2 to get 20% or $10 for the tip ▪ If I wanted to tip 15% half the 10% ($2.50) and add to the 10% cost  Any questions?
