2 What is a syllabus? A syllabus is a document that specifies all the things to be taught in the course. Examples: A country’national syllabus for schools. Syllabus of a group of language colleges.

3 Characteristics of a syllabus 1.consists of a comprehensive list of: -content items (words, topics,structures) -process items (tasks, methods) 2.is ordered (easier items first) 3.explicit objectives (in the introduction) 4.is a public document 5.may indicate a time schedule 6.may indicate a preferred methodology or approach 7.may recommend materials
