Weather

Weather is the combination of temperature, precipitation, cloud cover, and winds experienced daily. Weather is constantly changing from day to day, hour to hour, minute to minute. Climate is weather conditions of a place averaged over a long period of time..

Climate statistics generally include annual figures averaged over many years. Climate like weather can change but it is very slow and less dramatic. Climate changes occur over years or decades. Meteorologists study weather, and climatologists study climate. There are two major conditions both are interested in. Water content and its temperature

When understanding why Canada’s climate has so much variety, you need to know these four basic facts. –Canada is very large. –Different elevations produce different climate conditions –Coastal regions have different climate from inland regions. –Wind and pressure systems move weather conditions from one part of the country to another.

What is precipitation? Precipitation is the falling to earth of any form of water. There are four forms of precipitation. Precipitation can be in the forms of rain, snow, sleet, hail or mixtures of these.

How does Precipitation form Precipitation occurs when moist air is forced to rise. As it rises the air pressure decreases and the air cools. If the air is moist enough, the water vapor condenses into water droplets and forms clouds.

If the droplets are further cooled, or are knocked together by movement, they may become heavy enough to fall as rain. When this process takes place below the freezing point, then ice crystals form and snow may fall. Hail forms when water droplets are forced upward and are frozen, forming small balls of ice. Sleet is generally a mixture of ice and water formed in the atmosphere.
