6 Component Selection Rationale Microcontroller Speed – only needs to be fast enough to handle A/D conversion and PWM to process audio. IO – Needs enough output pins to handle controlling 4 motors, each with 3 poles, a 4- bit LCD display, audio control, and status LEDs. Needs capability to control two USART interfaces.

7 Component Selection Rationale Microcontroller Memory – Needs enough Flash memory to hold prescription information, programming, and possibly short audio clips. Power Consumption – Device will be powered by 110V wall outlet. Power consumption will not be an issue.
