4 Step 1 Read any book you want (your grade level), either in Romanian or English.

5 Complete four assignments for Levels C 1 & 2, B, C (ONE FOR EACH LEVEL: C1, C2, B, A).

6  Big Books for Little Kids Individually or in pairs (someone who has read the same book as you) retell the story for younger students in simple words and pictures.  Book Report Sandwich Station (Requires Web access) Use the below link to an interactive site that can help you writing with prompts for plot, setting, character, and personal response. 7  Character biography Create a biography for one of the characters in the book. Be true to the events in the book.  Character Analysis Chart Fill in the chart about a character of your choice. 8 Character Comparison Select one character from the book you're reporting on and then answer the following questions:  What traits does this character have that I do not have?  What traits do I have that the character does not have?  What traits do the two of us share? Consider all kinds of traits -- physical appearance, personality, outlook on life. Use a Venn diagram to organize your thinking about your personal traits and those of the character you selected. (If you choose this assignment, ask the teacher for the Venn diagram).Venn diagram

9  Film Cast Put together a cast for the film version of the book. Imagine the director-producer wants a casting director to make recommendations. Decide who would be the actors and actresses. Include photos and descriptions of the stars and tell why each is "perfect" for the part. Write a conclusion to convince the producer of the selections.  Job Search A character in search of a job. As if you were a character in the book, compose a resume (CV) and cover letter for your character, who is applying for a job suitable for the character and the setting of the novel.

10  Secret files Create a dossier on a character. Pretend that you are a foreign spy sent to report on your chosen character. Compile into a secret file general and specific information regarding your character. Don't forget the photo.  Birth Sign Report Students explore characters and the signs of the Zodiac. Select a character from the book read. As you read the character traits of the birth signs, you should consider under which sign the selected character was born. 11  Diary Write a diary that one of the story's main characters might have kept before, during, or after the book's events. Remember that the character's thoughts and feelings are very important in a diary.  Letter Write a letter (10-sentence minimum) to the main character of your book asking questions, protesting a situation, and/or making a complaint and/or a suggestion. This must be done in the correct letter format.  Interview Interview a character from your book. Write at least ten questions that will give the character the opportunity to discuss his/her thoughts and feelings about his/her role in the story. Write answers that the character might give (follow book details).

12  Scrapbook / Memory Box Choose one of the major characters in your book, and, as that person, put together a scrapbook or memory box of props, special memories and mementoes. Be true to your character.  Character Map Do character mapping, showing how characters reacted to events and changed. Examples: Make a character tree, where one side is event, symmetrical side is emotion or growth. Make a relationship map between characters. 13  You choose the format. Pay attention to the special formats you might want to choose (letter, diary, scrapbook, memory box) - it’s better to present them as they are.  You can use paper-and-pen assignments, PPT or Publisher to present your work.

14  Character dress up party Each student in the class will impersonate a character in the book of his / her choice. He /She will dress up as the character and present himself / herself to the others. The presentation should include the following: Who the character is Time and place he / she lived Main events in his / her life The PRESENTATION SHOULD NOT TAKE MORE THAN 3 MINUTES.

17  Choose only one assignment for each level. Doing two or more for one level won’t help you get a better grade.  Analyze each assignment carefully before you proceed working on it.  You do not have to complete all the levels for a passing grade, but I suggest you try your best.  The 3 levels assignments are created by levels of thinking. By completing all of them, you demonstrate not only a good command of English language, but also great critical thinking skills.

18  The assignment completion is not about lenght, but about quality.  If you feel you need help during the process, or feel unsure about your product(s), show the draft to your teacher at least 3 days before the deadline.  Each day past the deadline is penalized with 0.50 pts.  Final product(s) won’t be accepted later than January 26th. Anything past this date is not to be taken into consideration.
