3 Think of Verb Tenses Like a Timeline!
Key Academic Vocabulary: Infinitive – to + the original form of the verb (to walk, to talk, to be) 2) Tense – shows the time when an action or condition occurred ( I walk, I walked, I will walk) 3) Conjugate - to list the different forms of a verb showing number, person, and tense

The Past Tense: is conjugated by adding –d,–ed, or –ied to the main verb Past is used when an event has already happened. 1) will + MV (will walk) 2) to be + going to + main verb (am/is/are going to walk) An event that has not yet taken place, but will take place in the future. Examples: I am going to walk across the street to buy some candy from the store. I will shout to my brother on the playground. I will run in the park with my dog.

35 Let’s Look at The Big Picture for the Perfect Tenses!
The three perfect tenses in English are the three verb tenses which show action already completed but relates to the present, past or future. (The word perfect literally means "made complete" or "completely done.") They are formed by the appropriate tense of the verb: to have plus the past participle of the verb. have/has/had/ + PP Present Perfect: I have seen it. (have + PP) (Present tense of to have plus participle. Action is completed with respect to the present.) Past Perfect: I had seen it. (had + PP) (Past tense of to have plus participle. Action is completed with respect to the past.) Future Perfect: I will have seen it. (will have + PP)
