We use the passive when:
We don’t want to start a sentence with
New information.
The subject is too long.
We don’t know/ it’s not important who
does it.
The Rolls Royce has been bought by a retired bank manager.
The bank robbers were caught.
It is signed by the members.
My name will be read all over the world.
It can be sent to the office.

3. THE ARTICLE
We use the definite article with:
General words (definite)
Family names in the plural
Public buildings, means of transport, institutions
Names of countries in the plural, mountain ranges, regions
Groups of islands
Name with of-phrase, oceans, seas, rivers
Months, days of the week
