1 SB Weds 4.22 Obj: We will brainstorm and organize our ideas into an outline for our analytical essays  Due:  Lesson:  Warm Up  Begin Outlining Essay  HW: X-men character Idie Okonkwo is a devout Christian from Nigeria who is convinced that she’s evil for having her power to control extreme temperatures. She’s a fascinating and deeply conflicted character … You need: Warm Ups SB Book Blank Paper Novels

2 Warm Up  Think carefully about who you want to write about in your essay.  Choose a character or two as potential options.  What about this character interests you/attracted your attention/made you choose them?

3 On your own paper 1. What character are you writing about? 2. How did they respond to the collision of western and Ibo cultures? 3. How does this collision challenge their identity? 4. How does their response add to the meaning of the novel?

4 How do you think you want to organize your essay?  Will each of these questions get its own paragraph?  Will you write one long body paragraph?  Will you combine your answers to these questions?  Will one of these questions receive more than one paragraph?  You do not have to hammer this down now, but you do need to start thinking about this.
