2 Developing the CIP Joe Garcia, new PD Specialist, February 2015
Katie Heldmann, PD Coordinator Steve Johnson, Program Director David Gerabagi, new Director, April 2015 Data-driven decisions Vision of transformative instructional and organizational change 2015 started with many changes that affected Denton ISD. Joe Garcia was named as the new PD Specialist for Denton and was given the task of learning the program for purposes of providing professional development support. At this time, the PD Coordinator was Katie Heldmann, who was also fairly new in her role and the director was Steve Johnson. In April, the Continuous Improvement Plan was introduced as a tool for program improvement with a due date of the end of May for submission. Joe met with Katie and Steve to begin the process of developing the plan and then again with Katie and David Gerabagi when he was named as the new program director. David immediately began working on the Continuous Improvement plan as a method of defining his vision for the program. The original PD CIP was a comprehensive document including program history, goals, data sources, and future improvement plans

3 Implementing the CIP Summer 2015 Leslie Montez, new PD Coordinator
Program Improvement Plan Delivery of PD topics Continued collaboration Leslie Montez, new PD Coordinator Year-end reporting Technical Assistance Plan During the summer of 2015, Katie continued to arrange the delivery of PD topics as needed by the teachers and staff in the program. She worked with Joe Garcia to ensure tier 2 topics were handled and to provide any additional assistance for tier 1 topics, such as finding trainers, when needed. The continued program review as laid out in the PD CIP was maintained through use of site visits, instructor observation and surveys. The data from these reviews and surveys was used to verify the effectiveness of the plans in the CIP. In July, Leslie Montez joined the team as the new PD Coordinator, replacing Katie and taking the lead for professional development in the program. At this time, the program was also placed on a Technical Assistance Plan, which required a new review of the PD Plan to determine effectiveness of the planned training and to ensure the training was in line with the new goals as laid out in the TAP.

4 Review of Data Sources Technical Assistance Plan
Monthly review of program numbers with TWC Program Specialist Inclusion of PD Specialist in discussions to provide support with PD as needed Data review to ensure improvement each month The implementation of the Technical Assistance Plan necessitated the constant update and review of the data for the program to ensure improvement each month. The program data, which had previously been reviewed internally was now the subject of a monthly conference call with the program director, the TWC program specialist, and the PD Specialist. The information from these calls was used to schedule more professional development for the teachers and staff in the program.

5 PD CIP Plan Update CIP Ad-hoc report Updates to CIP
September 2015 distribution PD Specialist site visit October 2015 due date Updates to CIP Integration of Ad-hoc report topics with TAP requirements Additions to CIP as needed In September of 2015, the TWC issued an ad-hoc report request from the programs relating to the professional development plans in three areas: Recruitment/Intake/Orientation, Retention, Distance Learning/Educational Technology Joe met with Leslie, David, and one more program specialist on October 1 to discuss the report request and the existing CIP. A review of the report request and the existing CIP and the professional development that was conducted as a result of the TAP revealed that most of the report topics were already addressed. Some were part of the original CIP, some were added as part of the TAP requirements, and the ones that were not addressed previously were added to the CIP.
