9 Mixed Conditionals If he had a mobile phone, he could have been contacted yesterday. If Tom had seen the boss earlier, he would not be waiting for him now. If he was not allergic to seafood, he would have eaten paella last night.

Is used to say that we would like something to be different in the present. wish/if only + PP ( refers to past) Is used to express regret about something which happened or didn’t happen in the past.

Is used to express imperative// a desire for a situation or person’s behaviour to change.
