11 SMARTER: Mathematics Three kinds of tasks on the test: Three kinds of tasks on the test: 1) Novice- skill and routine (multiple choice) 2) Apprentice- medium performance tasks with scaffolding (MARS tasks) 3) Expert- minimum 90 minutes and high cognitive demand.
