2 Long or short-handled instrument How would you determine what is a long- handled or short-handled?

3 Strike (long) Using a bat – Non-dominant side to target – Feet shoulder width apart – Non-dominant Hand on bottom of bat – Dominant Hand on top – Swing Level – Keep eyes on the ball – Follow Through

4 Strike (Short) Using a Racket – Use a firm grip – Keep the paddle, or racket flat – Swing arm back – Swing level – Follow Through

5 Extended learning Although we often call it a ‘swing or hit’. When could you appropriately call it a ‘strike’? How would you measure accuracy with strike? Let’s look at the game of golf.

6 Measuring Accuracy Distance in striking is important: Distance tells me how much force to use. Space tells me where to strike the ball. Object of golf is to accurately place the ball in the hole with as few shots as possible.

7 Few Golf strikes (Long handled)

8 Few Strikes Record your scores…How many shots for each hole?

9 Task When striking make sure the grip is firm The feet are apart Eyes are focused Swings are level Let’s practice! Strike with short and long- handled and decide which strike/sport requires greater accuracy.
