4 4 Why is a Disaster Recovery Plan Important? A Disaster Recovery Plan should be developed to: Provide an organized and consolidated approach to managing the response and recovery activities following any unplanned incident, thereby avoiding confusion and reducing exposure to error Provide prompt and appropriate response to any unplanned incident, thereby reducing the impacts resulting from service interruptions Recover essential business systems in a timely manner, increasing the ability of your organization to recover from a damaging loss to sensitive and vital data

5 5 When to implement a Disaster Recovery Plan? Disaster Recovery Plans are designed to create a state of readiness that will provide an immediate response to any of the following: Incidents causing physical damage such as fire, smoke or water Incidents which affect critical business systems infrastructure Impending or unexpected disasters, such as severe weather External incidents which potentially could cause a service interruption, such as a loss of electrical or telecommunication services Copyright © 2015 ADP, LLC. 15 15 How to implement a Disaster Recovery Plan Upon notification of an event that may impact your business, the people responsible for Disaster Recovery will begin following the Disaster Recovery Plan. To implement: Assemble IT leadership, the Disaster Recovery teams, and business unit executives Conduct a damage assessment (based on pre-established guidelines). Evaluate degree of destruction and/or the impact on your company’s ability to operate Decide whether your Disaster Recovery Plan needs to be activated

In situations where a natural disaster occurs and a Disaster Recovery Plan is not in place, some examples of employee payment are: Last record of hours collection Percentage of base pay paid to employee Fixed flat dollar amount paid to all employees Copyright © 2015 ADP, LLC. 17 17 Disaster Recovery Plan-Resources Make a list of all essential resources, staff and procedures that need to be recovered Contact any outside vendors that are essential to the processing of payroll Work with a preferred provider of payroll office supplies, check stock, to make it as easy as possible to function in this stressful situation Create a backup form of payment for employees (i.e. Payroll Debit Cards) that can be used in an emergency situation Copyright © 2015 ADP, LLC.
