2 Presenting “ Using Dynamic Multi-Attribute Trade space to Develop Value Robust Systems ” - Adam M. Ross, Ph.D., MIT Oct 18 th Monthly Meeting Chapter Meeting Location: UGS Corporation WebEx Available See http://www.incose.org/ntexas/meeting.asp for details 5:30 pm CST - Networking 5:50 pm CST - Brief Chapter Meeting 6:00 pm CST - Guest Speaker Meeting Topic Abstract Designing and maintaining systems in a dynamic contemporary environment requires a rethinking of how systems provide value to stakeholders over time. Dynamic Multi-Attribute Trade space Exploration is introduced as an approach to considering and codifying changing user needs and contexts in order to develop systems that can maintain usefulness over time. Classically difficult problems can be considered in this framework including such issues as quantification of flexibility, consideration of policy effects on systems, impact of requirement changes, and the introduction of new technology. Dynamic MATE, which can address both classical notions of alterability and robustness, empowers designers to develop systems that can maintain value delivery over their lifecycle, in spite of changes in their contexts, thereby achieving value robustness to stakeholders over time. Adam Ross Adam Ross, a Research Scientist at MIT Engineering Systems Division, received his dual B.A. in Physics and Astronomy and Astrophysics from Harvard University in 2000, and his M.S. in Aeronautics and Astronautics and M.S. in Technology and Policy from MIT in 2003. He finished his Ph.D in Technology, Management, and Policy of Engineering Systems at MIT in 2006. Dr. Ross was previously a research assistant with the MIT Lean Aerospace Initiative. He is one of the co-founders of the MIT Systems Engineering Advancement Research Initiative (SEAri). Dr. Ross has published papers in the area of space systems design. He has work experience with government, industry, and academia including NASA Goddard, JPL, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, Boeing Satellite Systems, MIT, Harvard, and Florida State University, performing both science and engineering research.
