3 I. Schedule for implementation of ISIC Rev.4 and CPC 2.0 1. 1.Status of the VSIC a. Before 2007 - Before 1993, Vietnam industrial classification was developed on the base of Material Product System (MPS) - From 1993 to 2007 Vietnam Standard Industrial Classification 1993 (VSIC 1993) was developed on the base of ISIC rev.3 b. From 2007 up to now Vietnam standard industrial classification 2007 (VSIC 2007) was developed on the base of ISIC rev.4 and ASEAN Common Industrial Classification (ACIC) VSIC 2007 has been applied for collecting statistical data by industries in enterprise survey 2007 and economic census 2007

Before 2007 Before 1996, Vietnam product classification was developed on the base of Material Product System (MPS) - From 1996 to 2007 Vietnam Standard Industrial Classification 1996 (VCPC 1996) was developed on the base of Provisional Central Product Classification (PCPC) b. From 2007 up to now Vietnam product classification is in progress to revise on the base of CPC 2.0 (March, 2006) Plan to have new version of Vietnam product classification in 2010

Bases to build VSIC 2007  Current situation of using VSIC 1993 and new characteristics of Vietnam economic activities for deeply integrated period into the world and ASEAN economy  International Standard Industrial Classification Revision 4 (ISIC Rev.4 – March, 2006) and ASEAN Common Industrial Classification (ACIC)

Structure of VSIC 2007 VSIC 2007 includes 5 levels: - Level 1 includes 21 sections coded by capital letters from A to U - Level 2 includes 88 divisions coded by 2-digit - Level 3 includes 242 groups coded by 3-digit - Level 4 includes 437 classes coded by 4-digit - Level 5 includes 642 sub-classes coded by 5-digit

9 3. Relation between VSIC 2007, ISIC Rev.4 and ACIC  Sections and Divisions of VSIC 2007 are kept the same as ISIC Rev.4  Sections, Divisions and Groups of VSIC 2007 are kept the same as ACIC  Classes and sub-classes are developed more detailed compared to VSIC 1993 and ISIC Rev.4
