An empanada is a stuffed bread or pastry baked or fried in many countries in Latin Europe, Latin America, the Southwestern United States, and parts of Southeast Asia. The name comes from a Spanish verb empanar, meaning to wrap or coat in bread. Empanadas are made by folding dough or bread with stuffing consisting with a variety of meat, cheese, vegetables, fruits, and others.

Tortilla is a type of soft, thin flatbread made from finely wheat flour. Originally derived from the corn tortilla (tortilla in Spanish means "small cake"), a bread of corn which predates the arrival of Europeans to the Americas. The wheat flour tortilla was an innovation after wheat was brought to the New World from Spain. Tamales is a traditional Mexican dish made of masa (a corn-based dough), which is steamed or boiled in a leaf wrapper. The wrapping is discarded before eating. Tamales can be filled with meats, cheeses, fruits, vegetables, chilies or any preparation according to taste, and both the filling and the cooking liquid may be seasoned. Tamales have been traced back to the Ancient Maya people.

Paella is a rice dish with ancient roots that originated in its modern form in the mid-nineteenth century near the east coast of Spain.[1] The dish is widely regarded as Spain's national dish. Spanish food historian Lourdes March notes that the dish "symbolizes the union and heritage of two important cultures, the Roman, which gives us the utensil and the Arab which brought us the basic food of humanity for centuries.
