2 I.Roots of the Constitution A.British System of Government 1.English Bill of Rights of 1689 provided an important model for the Americans 2.The Enlightenment promoted the idea that knowledge, reason, and science could improve society. 3.John Locke was an English philosopher who believed that all people have the right to life, liberty, and property.
