2 Personality The United Way of Tompkins County represents 42 member organizations and other area nonprofits- including community councils and food pantries Cornell’s United Way of Tompkins County (CUWTC) is the Cornell’s internal campaign led by a rotating chair with staff representatives from across campus. Cornell staff, faculty and students provide nearly 40% of the county’s campaign goal

3 CUWTC is unique in … The biggest contributor in UWTC Cornell faculty, staff, students and retirees providing 40% of the county’s campaign goal Flexible designation of beneficial agencies Donors are free in choosing or excluding their contribution to any specific agency Closely linked to Cornell culture The campaign is dynamically interacted with Cornell campus. United Way contributes to charities that specifically benefit and aid those in need in our community

4 Goals To establish strategies to increase Cornell’s campus-wide participation rate To create an overview of successful university campaigns To retrieve and analyze feedback from Cornell employees and senior staff To determine what challenges need to be addressed

5 Strengths and Potential Strengths : CUWTC represents agencies which help the disadvantaged in the greater Ithaca area Convenient methods of donation both online and offline, on and out of campus It has been around for years and has a nation wide infrastructure but works on a local scale Potential : As CUTWC typically provides ~40% of United Way of Ithaca’s funding, by increasing Cornell’s participation rate, we will be able to give even more to the community and the population of Ithaca will benefit as a whole as well as increase Cornell’s national prestige
