6 “The Magic Jukebox” Children take a musical journey through history and pay tribute to the memorable music of their parents and grandparents. PK-5 th grade GRANDPARENTS’ DAY

7 VETERANS’ DAY “Americans We” Narrated by the JH Drama team, Elementary students will perform a program of traditional and contemporary music meant to honor America and its heroes. PK-8 th grade

8 “Bah, Humbug!” Scrooge’s Christmas Carol A large cast and fun variety of songs will give every parent a reason to be proud. This is a child-friendly adaptation of Dickens’ holiday classic – and it will be perfect timing along with Disney’s movie version! PK-5 th grade CHRISTMAS PROGRAM

9 Christmas Program (continued) Auditions for principal cast to be held in early October. Rehearsals will primarily be held after school. Drama team will help coach certain scenes. will present a JH version of “The Hallelujah Chorus”

10 ARTS IN OUR SCHOOLS MONTH “Go, Leonardo!” Performed as an in-school assembly Elementary classes will celebrate both the performing AND visual arts in this musical tribute to great artists. Each class will present a unique narration, song, dance, and project for an artist. PK-5 th grade

11 6 th grade Concert Dinner Theatre – potluck Perform: UIL songs Original group compositions Broadway revue

12 SPRING MUSICAL “Willy Wonka” By the authors of Annie, Jr. Based on the original hit movie, this hilarious musical will have all of Garner sporting a sweet tooth! Features include awesome special effects, lots of leading roles for the Drama Team, and the opportunity for EVERY STUDENT in Garner to participate as Oompa Loompas. PK-8 th grade

Only 50 groups selected to perform out of 36,000! Present 15 min. from Annie jr with modified cast! Garner ISD has been invited to perform as a result of Diane Shaw’s training with iTheatrics this summer in Houston. This is a HUGE honor! January 2010

21 “Willy Wonka” Drama Team will make special invitations and goodie bags for the children of the Pythian Home and the Bunkhouse in Weatherford. They will be treated to a night full of sweet treats and magical memories. By invitation only to

23 Students participating in The Junior Theatre Festival (January in Atlanta) will need to pay their own way. To raise funds: We could offer face painting ($3) and sell bottled water and popcorn ($1) during TRICK OR TRUNK! We could also host a “Parents’ Night Out” for Christmas shopping in early December. We would plan games, crafts, and a movie in the gym ($5).

24 To raise funds for “Willie Wonka” We will host a Classroom Candyland Competition! Classes will race to sell the most WONKA BARS. Some bars will contain “golden tickets” with prizes donated by the community. The winning class will get a candy making and cake decorating party!
