2 Thriller synopsis In the beginning there is a person, however you don't see their face, but you see him doing strange things. Such as crossing out faces from a picture and burning candle drops of wax on a cross. It shows a series of flashbacks of times when he was in high school, with some of the people that are crossed off. You also see him doing strangely creative and odd stuff, such as dropping paint into a tub of water etc. We see pictures of people who were crossed out of the photograph. Then the screen is split in half. One shot shows, The main character (Benedict Black) going through his normal routine. The other half of the screen shows there is another person( Sam Cooke), just going through his everyday life. Living every day as they come. We see flashbacks from his point of view and how he saw things when they were happening in high school. Then you see the Sam Cooke walking and in the background you can make out the silhouette of someone watching him and stalking him. We recognise him (Benedict Black), because of a recognisable tattoo. Then the Sam arrives at work and leaves the audience thinking about why he was actually being watched, as he seems much like just an ordinary person. The Present Past

3 Treatment – ‘The Present Past’ (Opening title sequence) Our opening title sequence will involve mainly one character. This is the character Benedict Black (pictured underneath) who I have described in my treatment for the overall film. The opening title sequence will consist of Benedict Black sitting at a desk. He will be cutting things out, writing on things, flicking through pages, and he will be doing all these creative/weird things, that will link to the kidnapping. We will also add some shots that involve a candle burning things (or a lighter) and also ink may drop into water in slow motion. Throughout all these shots you will not see his face or his body, you will only see his hands when they are making and creating all the stuff. The shots will also be captured in only close-ups, extreme close-ups and point of view shots. This is also so the location remains unknown and the character’s identity remains unknown. We have some specific ideas for shots such as a candle dripping wax over a religious symbol like a cross. This will symbolize that he is religious and is a clue for the narrative that could happen later on.

4 Treatment for ‘The Present Past’ Logline Back in high school Benedict Black was a bullied, quiet and reclusive student. On the hand other Jessie White was loved, loud and a social. There paths never crossed back in the past, but they will now in the present. With deadly consequences. The past present is a character driven thriller. The Present Past is a film that will show the importance of time and how things from before can still influence our current lives. It is set in the 2000’s in a typical American high school where two men- Sam Cooke and Benedict Black-who were once enemies at high school will meet again as middle-aged men. What problems have they faced since they last saw each other? What is happening in their lives now? And how will they react when they meet another time? Despite the usual high school bullying behaviour they faced before from each other before, this situation will prove to be quite different and on a whole new level. Sam Cooke, a sociable family man who was different to how he used to be, finds out about a kidnapping of someone he knows. He doesn’t know why or who the person who kidnapped them is but all he knows is he must go to him or the person he knows will face the consequences. Benedict Black is quite the opposite of Sam Cooke. He is religious and alone and has a dark personality. Sam Cooke once bullied him before and later in life Benedict Black became a drug addict. This turned him psychologically crazy. Because of his condition he doesn’t think about what will make him happier, he just thinks about revenge from the past. Benedict Black will have an innocent victim from his school, which is also Sam Cooke’s old school. They are kidnapped in the opening title sequence. He shows them a picture of Sam Cooke and they phone him saying they have been kidnapped and Sam Cooke needs to go to they otherwise they will die. Sam Cooke will now think what to do, why he is wanted and who he is wanted by. Later in the film he chooses to help but then he finds himself in a bad situation as there turns out to be someone else with Benedict Black in the public who has kidnapped Sam Cooke’s child and wife. A photo of them tied is shown to him. Sam Cooke finds himself controlled like a puppet. He is under instruction by Benedict Black and is under his command. What will he have to do? Why? And what key aspects from the past intertwine from the past into the future and how will these help Sam Cooke figure out the unknown puzzle as to why Benedict Black is as he is and how he gets the people he loves back without harm to them or himself.

5 Sam Cooke Used to be a bully at high school but has turned his life around since then. He is now a sociable, clever, friendly family man. He has a nice car, a nice house and a wife and a kid. He has a good job working as a businessman. His only real flaw is his behavior and attitude from the past. Benedict Black He was always shy and socially awkward. He didn’t have any friends and was hardly known. He was always a genius but that has been less appreciated recently as he was always slowly turning insane. He is religious but he smokes and is a drugs addict. He uses drugs for purposes towards his projects, usually to stay focused or uncover parts and uses of his brain he hasn’t found before. He is very interested in this so he abuses drugs too often. This is partly why he went insane. As he has been locked away from society for so long and he has gone crazy he wanted a scape-goat so he remembers back 30 years ago to high school when Sam Cooke was a larger influence on his life. His behaviour then determines how he behaves now and how he behaves towards Sam Cooke.
