2. M&m’s Not the Candy The M&M’s we are referring to are Meiosis& Mitosis. Meiosis and Mitosis is a type of process of sex cell going through different stages

3. Meiosis Meiosis is the process by which the number of chromosomes is reduced by half to form sex cells-sperm and eggs. During Meiosis, the chromosome pairs separate and are distributed to two different cells. The resulting sex cells have only half as many chromosomes as the other cells in the organism.

4. Meiosis 1.Before meiosis begins, every chromosomes are copied. 2. The chromosome pairs line up in the center. 3. The pairs separate and move to the opposite ends of the cell.

5. Meiosis 4.Two cells form, with the same amount of chromosomes. 5. Then the chromosomes move to the center with the chromatids. 6.The chromatids & the centromeres go to the opposite end of the cell. Lastly 4 cells form.

6. Mitosis Mitosis is the stage during which the cell’s nucleus divides into two new nuclei. During mitosis, one copy of the DNA is distributed into each of the two daughters cells.

7. Mitosis 1. The first stage is that the cell grows to its mature size and makes copies of it’s DNA. 2. The second stage is that the chromatin in the nucleus forms the chromosomes. 3.The third stage is that the chromosomes line up across the center of the cell. Each chromosomes attaches to a spindle fiber at its centromeres.

8. Mitosis 4.The centromeres split. The two chromatids separates. One chromatids is drawn by its spindle fiber to one end of the cell. The other chromatid moves to the opposite end of the cell. The cell stretches out as the opposite ends are pushed apart. 5.The chromosomes begin to stretch out and lose their rod like appearance. A new nuclear envelope forms around each region of chromosomes.

9. Mitosis 6.The cell membrane pinches I around the middle of the cell. The cell splits in two. The cell ends up in identical sets of chromosomes.
