A unit of energy-producing potential supplied by food and released upon oxidation by the body, equal to the amount of energy required to raise the temperature

3  Making healthy choices  Which is healthier, a muffin or a banana? A sports drink or a glass of milk? People face such questions all the time. With a little information and some guidelines, you can learn how to spot the healthier choice. Here are some tips for distinguishing between good (healthy) and bad (unhealthy) foods.  Good foods include…Whole grains, such as whole- wheat breads and cereals, fruits, vegetables, lean meats, milk, water. Bad foods include…White bread, fried foods, processed foods (packaged chips, cookies, candy bars), soda Healthy is always an option

5  Jumping rope is a great way to burn calories.  Cooking is a great way for families to learn about nutrition.  Most of the fiber in fruit is in the peel!  Soup is a great way to add vegetables to meals.  Spaghetti squash can be used like actual pasta!  Oatmeal with fresh fruit is a good source of fiber.  The best way to exercise your heart is by walking and jogging!
