Specific person, place, or thing—John, Shaw Middle School, Monopoly Family member’s name (mom, dad, aunt, uncle) when you are using it as the actual name EXCEPT when my, your, his, her, their , our, etc. appear before it For Example: My mom went to the store. I was going to the store, and Mom decided to come along. His uncle made us all dinner. After the football game, we all met at Uncle Joe’s house. Important words in a title (a, an, the, of, with, etc. do NOT get capitalized UNLESS they appear at the beginning of the title “The Road Not Taken” Gone with the Wind First word in a quote

5 Sentence Errors 4. “may I borrow the car today?” Jennifer asked her mother. Answer: “May I borrow the car today?” Jennifer asked her mother.

6 Homophones Accept = take Except = all but this Hear = sound
