• They help you to pin point an exact location on a map

3. Latitude
Tells you how far NORTH or SOUTH of the equator you are. 0o (zero) degrees latitude is called the EQUATOR.

4. Longitude
Tells you how far EAST or WEST of the prime meridian you are. 0o (zero) degrees longitude is called the PRIME MERIDIAN.

Mark off four quadrants at equator and prime meridian. Add negative signs. Relate to X-Y axis coordinate plane WITH CURVES.
