WMO OMM Resolution 38 (Cg-XVI) Confirming the leading role of the Executive Council and important contributions of regional associations and technical commissions in developing and implementing the Strategic Plan, Requests the regional associations: (1) To provide regional needs and priorities that should be taken into consideration in developing the WMO Strategic Plan 2016–2019; (2) To coordinate, as necessary, national contributions to regional aspects of the Plan; (3) To develop their own Operating Plans in support of the implementation of the next WMO Strategic Plan; Requests the technical commissions: (1) To lead the formulation of the scientific and technical aspects of WMO Programmes and activities falling within their respective responsibilities in preparing the WMO Operating Plan; (2) To develop their own Operating Plans in support of the implementation of the next WMO Strategic Plan;

WMO OMM Next Strategic Plan (2016-2019) Follow the structure of the current Pan; Planning driven by needs & priorities set by the Members; Focus on where WMO can provide solutions; Key strategic priorities guide the investments. EC endorsed the outline, timelines, content guidance; WG-SOP is developing the draft SP; Members review - January 2013. Operating Plan and Budget proposal by EC-66 (2014) EC-66 (2014) will review the drafts and make recommendations to Cg-17 (2015) Basis for our work and positioning WMO in the global context

WMO OMM Vision To provide world leadership in expertise and international cooperation to enable the delivery and use of high quality weather, climate, water and related environmental services for the improvement of the well-being of societies of all nations (resilience to natural disasters and climate variability and change)

WMO OMM Strategic Priorities Effective use of limited resources requires the Organization to identify priority areas within the Strategic Trusts on which to focus the combined efforts of WMO Members’ NMHSs and partners to realize maximum benefits to Members Disaster Risk Reduction Service Delivery focusing on effective, timely and efficient services to the public, civil aviation, and marine transportation with increased attention on coastal zones and the needs of LDCs and SIDS Global Framework for Climate Services Scientific Research to improve sub-seasonal to seasonal predictions, polar weather prediction, climate projections and on advancing megacity services WMO Integrated Global Observing System coupled with WIS Capacity Development
