Create an international system safety network (ST1) Increase in international SSS membership Increase in number of countries and numbers within a country attending the international conferences Created an OVP International Activities Five year increasing trend!

Developed and implementing web content plan Updated and expanded web site, with more links and information TV Chapter nearly complete with CD containing all SSS Conference Proceedings, JSSs and HPs Increasing the number of hits and links to the Society Web page 24-Hour Information Resource (IN1)

Improve Response to Customer Needs (IN2) Conducted member survey and have preliminary results Established OVP Corporate Members Increased use of web site to distribute information Continued improvements to JSS Increased availability of technical resources offered by the Society SSS “polo” type shirts available

Create Database for Design Solutions (ED1) Developed tiered approach to implementation of web content plan Increased availability of technical resources offered by the Society International standards participation is next priority project

Professional Development Opportunities (ED2) 17th Conference in Orlando was successful Co-sponsored numerous regional conferences, I.e., NM Chapter/ASSE and NW Chapter/ASSE/AIHA Plan for future conferences (looking international in later years)

Steve Smith - Director develop guidance on SSS interface and reporting requirements for committee representatives; identify appropriate society liaison opportunities; monitor and respond to appropriate government issues, standards development, etc.; issue position statements and raise awareness of system safety in appropriate arenas; nominate SSS candidates to serve on appropriate federal committees and inter-society committees; maintain coordination with US National Research Council and National Academy of Engineering coordinate with professional societies - NSPE, AAES, SAE, etc. oversee the workings of the Joint ASSE/SSS Task Force develop peer review process

Benny Smith - Director engage chapter presidents to enhance membership benefits; develop and promote roadmap to organize and form new chapters; assist chapters develop pertinent projects that support the Society goals and objectives; facilitate establishing new Chapters where there is sufficient interest and a critical mass of members/potential members; maintain the Chapter Management Guide; help Chapters recruit speakers for meetings, solicit quarterly chapter reports for EC meetings and the Society’s Journal; monitor the health of Society Chapters; develop intervention strategy for chapter rescue and advise EC whenever a Chapter is experiencing difficulties; develop a Plan of Action and Milestones to restore inactive chapters to active status; coordinate development of chapter annual reports, review the reports and provide a summary to the Executive Council annually.

Bob Sweginnis - Director develop international involvement agenda; develop member professional development plan; define opportunities for member licensing and professional certification; coordinate nomination and selection of Society professional awards; develop professional courses and establish committee of instructors; develop system safety certificate program
