5
Polygon Is a shape Made of straight lines That is closed These are NOT Polygons
6
A rectangle is definitely a polygon. Let’s say we have a rectangle 10 inches LONG and 4 inches WIDE 14 10 24 28 10 + 4 + 10 + 4 = 28
7
Perimeter of a Rectangle L L W W L stands for the length W stands for the width
8
Perimeter of a Rectangle L L W W Perimeter = L + W + L + W Perimeter = 2 x L + 2 x W Perimeter = 2 L + 2W
9
Perimeter of other shapes 11 9 For a triangle, add up the length of each side 11 + 9 + 11 = 31
10
Perimeter of other shapes ab c For a triangle, add up the length of each side If you called the length of each side a, b and c Perimeter = a + b + c
11
One more, for now All 4 sides of a square are the same length so … 3 3 3 3 The perimeter of a square = 4 x length of a side Perimeter = 4 x 3 = 12
