2 Web Article Web Article Summary: On Sunday, November 25 th, the 100 th CFL (Canadian Football League) Championship Game called the Grey Cup was played in Toronto. The Toronto Argonauts faced the Calgary Stampeders at 6:00pm in the Rogers Centre in front of 53,208 fans. The Argos ended up defeating the Stamps 35-22. One of the highlights of the game came in the first quarter when Toronto’s running back, Pacino Horne took advantage of a turnover and scored a 25- yard touchdown bring them to an 18-point lead by the end of the first half of the game. A turnover happens when a team can’t move forward 10 yards after 4 tries and has to give up the ball to their opponent. Argo coach, Scott Milonovich said that turnover helped build the Argos’ confidence to go on and win the game. At the end of the game, John Hufnagel, coach of the Stampeders said that his team didn’t take advantage of the turnovers given up by the Argos during the game. He also said they just couldn’t get the ball down to the end zone to score enough touchdowns because of the strong Argo defense. The MVP (most valuable player) award was given to Argos’ player, Chad Kackert. Argos’ quarterback Ricky Ray at the end of the game said, "It feels great. This is what you play for — to be able to be on a team that gets on a run and wins a championship.”

3 Why did I choose this article? When I was a lot younger my dad, my brothers and I went to several Argonaut football games so I know a little about the history of the Argos. I also thought it was exciting to have Toronto host the Grey cup while its football team was competing in it. The last time that happened was in 1959 and I wasn’t even born yet! I’m also glad to present it because the Argos actually won!

4 Questions What was one main reason why the Argos won the Grey Cup? Describe the meaning of a turnover. Why do you think the Toronto Argonauts were so successful in winning the Grey Cup?

5 Video In this video, CP24 reporter, Saphia Khambalia interviews cheering fans outside the Real Sports Bar & Grill in downtown Toronto.
