COLORCOLOR HUE- A color’s name; orange, green and violet are all hues. COMPLEMENTARY- Colors across the color wheel from each other are complementary colors. When you mix them they make a neutral color TINT- When white is added to a hue SHADE- When black is added to a hue

MONOCHROMATIC A color scheme that uses different tints and shades of a single hue

ANALOGOUS A color scheme that uses hues that are side by side on the color wheel and share a hue

PAINT PIGMENT= This is what gives paint color. Made from minerals, natural things (plants and animals), or synthetic (plastics). VEHICLE= This is what makes paint liquid (wet). It is added to the pigment. Examples of vehicles: Oil, water, milk

DIFFERENCES IN PAINT OPAQUE Can not see through ex: Tempera paint TRANSLUCENT Can see through ex: Water color paint
