6 Syllabus Course Structure: 3 lectures a week 1 “pre-test” (today) 3 exams 1 final

7 Syllabus Grading: 1 “pre-test” (10pts) 3 exams (100 pts each) 1 final (100 pts) You will be allowed to drop your lowest test grade.

8 Syllabus Grading: Conflict exams are not normally given except under extreme circumstances. You must have an approved excuse in writing. If you are ill the day of the exam, inform the instructor within 24 hours by email (envbio@life.uiuc.edu) or phone (333-7802).

10 Syllabus Exams: All tests are multiple choice and true/false. Include extra credit. How to prepare? Responsible for all material presented in lecture Responsible for all assigned textbook readings NOT responsible for textbook website

11 Exam Info Bring pencils At least one empty seat between each person Your neighbors must have a different color exam book All jackets/bags/etc must be under your seat No hats. Shoes must be kept on You must show your ID when turning in your exam Fill in student ID # on exam

12 Course Guidelines Please, no talking during lecture! Unless you have a question or comment relevant to class material, then go ahead and ask. Turn phones off before class!

13 Course Guidelines Take notes but don’t worry about writing every detail down. All lectures will be available on the course web site (check site often for updates and information). (if I am going to fast, let me know)

It shows two key types of scarcity; water is said to be either physically scarce or economically scarce.
