2 Overview of chosen genre A documentary is a non fictional motion picture that documents some aspect of ‘reality’ to inform people about a topic/subject through the use of facts and opinions.

3 Program idea Our documentary topic is centering around appearance, specifically the stereotypes around hair. Our target audience is mainly focused on the younger generation Our narrative: selection of facts separated by interviews Use of voiceover, still images and film

4 Scenario and synopsis Include a range of different issues to do with appearance, focusing specifically on hair and stereotypes Begin by addressing the main point why people stereotype hair Spaced out interviews throughout the documentary Include information on the history/evolution of hairstyles and celebrity influence. Conclude the opinions of people and all information we’ve found

5 Interview questions Hair style/ colour questions Hairdresser questions How long have you had the hairstyle you currently have? Long time – Have you ever considered changing it? Recently – Is there a particular reason why you changed it? Why do you choose the hairstyle you have? Have you ever been judged or stereotyped on your hairstyle? No – Do you know anyone who has been stereotyped because of his or her hair? Yes – Why do you think that is? How did that make you feel? Do you think someone’s hair style/colour reflects someone’s personality? Why? How do you feel about stereotyping people due to their choice of hairstyle/colour? Has a celebrity trend of friend influenced the way you have your hair before? – If yes – What did you like about the hairstyle? How long have you been in the hairdressing business? Have you seen a change in hairstyles over the years? Do you think your customers are influenced and follow a current celebrity trend? Do you get a lot of customers asking for specific hairstyles to look like someone else? Do you have to have a specific hairstyle to be a hairdresser? Do you think stereotyping in hair is particularly common? Have you ever been judged or stereotyped for your hairstyle or colour? – How does that make you feel? Do you think that young people worry more about being stereotyped due to their hair?

6 Legal and ethical considerations Legal- Permission to use our interviewees faces and voices Our use of non copyright music Meet health and safety regulations whilst filming Be aware of peoples attitudes to avoid discrimination or racism

7 Ethical- What is morally right and wrong. Representation of people in our documentary and their views Consider the peoples safety and privacy Show equal amounts of footage on each opinion to make it fair and un-bias Decide what to put and what not to put in our documentary Legal and ethical considerations

9 Proposal subject idea Format- Mostly filming footage and occasional still images. Genre- Digital storytelling Style – The Expository Mode and The Participatory Mode Audience – Aimed at everyone but specifically younger people. Intended aim- To address the issue of stereotyping and to inform people
