Warm Up – Page 1(or 2 or 3) ● Write down today’s date on the left hand side. 1. Choose the best word to complete this sentence: ___________ going to meet us in the lobby after the movie. Figurative Language Practice On the handout, identify each piece of text as a simile, metaphor, hyperbole, or personification. Explain each example using complete sentences. #8 –procession – like a parade #4 – grievous – intense, overwhelming After you have completed the ten examples, choose one that you will draw. On a piece of white paper, draw what the figurative language literally says. For example, if it said “fame is a bee” you might draw the word fame with wings and black and yellow stripes, and a stinger.
