2 Project Background The CARIFORUM-EC Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) was signed in 2008 with the intention of stimulating growth in the export of goods and services of the region. Unfortunately, implementation of this Agreement has been slow. The Government of Trinidad and Tobago (GORTT), the Ministry of Trade and Industry, and other business support institutions such as exporTT Ltd (formerly the Business Development Company), the Trinidad and Tobago Chamber of Industry and Commerce (TTCIC) and the Trinidad and Tobago Coalition of Service Industries (TTCSI) have executed a number of projects in the European Union (EU) with a view to improving capacity building and export readiness to the region.

3 Project Background cont’d This project, which is facilitated through the 10th European Development Fund and administered by the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB), is intended to continue building on this work completed by offering sensitization to market requirements, capacity building, some companies will be guided through market penetration into the selected EU markets.
