Pain Point & Hypothesis- The Seekers The process for student to get scholarships is the student must seek, find, and apply for each scholarship and resources individually. This process makes it virtually impossible for 1 st Generation students to receive funding since they don’t have the access to mentors to help guide the process and hurts their chances for success in 4 year colleges. The Pain Hypothesis 1 st generation students would like one place to post financial resources they need to help pay for a 4 year college degree, or a Kickstarter for 1 st Generation College Students.

Pain Point & Hypothesis- The Connector Over 33% of all students are 1 st Generation students, they are historically less likely to graduate, have a greater student loan default rate, and hurt their bond rating, making them a liability to a 4 year colleges. The success of 1 st generation students is important for the long-term success of a 4 year college. Why do 1 st generation student not succeed? Often 1 st generation students don’t feel they fit into the colleges culture and feel lonely and isolated and with the financial burden of a 4 year college makes it hard for students to complete a degree. The Pain Hypothesis 4 year colleges would increase the success rate of 1 st generation students by having a digital platform where students can connect and feel invested in by the college and its culture. a college-based Kickstarter for 1 st generation college students.

Pain Point & Hypothesis- The Giver (Alumni) Alumni are important to the success of a college by being involved with the college after graduating. Building alumni relations start when the student is in their senior year of the school. Often, foundations base and match their donations on the donations the 4 year college receives. Alumni like to donate and support their alma mater but want to have a connection to where there funds will be used. The Pain Hypothesis Alumni will be will to support 1 st generation students through financial resources and mentorship if they have a personal connection to the student, a Kickstarter for 1 st Generation College Students would make it easy for Alumni to support 1 st Generation Students.

Pain Point & Hypothesis- The Giver (Individuals/Scholarships Funds) Non-Alumni individuals and scholarship funds want to help students be successful in a 4 year college, but they do have a certain criteria for determining their donations that can be based on a variety of factors like: 1 st generation status, location, race, ethnicity, interests, etc… It is very difficult for these potential donors to find 1 st generation students to support. The Pain Hypothesis Individual/Scholarship funds will be will to support 1 st Generation Students through financial resources and mentorship if they have an easy way to find student, a Kickstarter for 1 st Generation College Students would make it easy for individuals/scholarship funds to support 1 st Generation Students.

Pain Point & Hypothesis- The Giver (Corporations/Companies) Corporations in certain industries (technology, finance, etc…) have a hard time recruiting and keeping diverse employees, this effects can affect their bottom-line since the world is getting more diverse and they are can loss touch with their customers if they don’t have diverse talent. Building relationships with a diverse talent base is important for long- term survival of 21 st Century companies. The Pain Hypothesis. Often, 1 st Generation Students come from diverse ethnicity, social, and economical backgrounds, corporations that identify pre-graduating students talent and form personal relationships have a better chance of recruit this talent. A Kickstarter for 1 st Generation Students would allow for companies to form relationships with key students to increase a diverse talent base.
