3.  Potential energy is stored energy.  Kinetic energy is energy in motion.

5.  Chemical – The energy in chemical bonds that hold atoms together.  When chemical bonds are broken, chemical energy is released.  All matter has chemical energy. When you digest the pizza you eat, the pizza gives your body energy.

6.  Elastic – Energy that can be compressed or stretched.

7.  Electromagnetic – energy of light and other forms of radiation (radio, UV, X-ray); it travels in waves.  Thermal – Heat energy. The hotter the object, the faster its molecules are moving.

8.  Electrical- The energy of electric charges.  Sound- energy that causes air molecules to vibrate in waves.

15. Have you ever burned your mouth on sip of hot cocoa or tea? The thermal energy was transferred from the drink (hot) to your mouth (cold) by conduction. Ouch!
