Sources Three sources are required: – One must be a book – One must be a valid online source Evaluate the relevance and reliability of your potential sources!

Baseball Glove

Why this topic? Baseball glove – – Used daily by major league players, and players at all levels. – It has evolved as has the sport of baseball over the years. – Materials and patterns have changed – It has helped players become more efficient in their positions and has reduced injuries.

Research Planning How am I going to address the assignment requirements? Outline: – An outline is a brief or rough sketch of the items or ideas that will encompass your research assignment.

Outline I.Introduction II.Creation III.Growth and Change IV.Impact V.Conclusion Within each major category you can insert topical ideas to research for your paper.

Introduction Briefly introduce the topic that you will be discussing. Be engaging, present a little known fact or two to grab a readers attention. Restate the original assignment prompt. Comment about change and time. (Items or objects like people, change over time) Attitudes, or perspectives change over time. The object that you select should highlight or reflect the idea that change occurs over time; either positively or negatively.

Creation Early history of Baseball – Where was it first developed? – Who invented it? – Who first played it? – What equipment was first used? – When was it created? – How does one play it? Each statement can represent a paragraph. Each paragraph represents a separate idea.

Growth and Change Earliest beginnings in the United States Pre civil war era Post civil war era Depression era World War I – World War II Golden Age (1950 – 1970) Modern Era (1970 – today) Earliest heros, league creation, rule evolution and equipment changes.

Impact Focus on your object and describe how its usage or development has evolved. – At first gloves not used. – Used regular gloves with very little padding. – Gradual re-working of materials and design. – Position specific gloves with varying styles and sizes to assist players. As the game has evolved and the speed and players have grown, so has the equipment. Impact on the future?
