3. Here’s how they work… You already have the tough part DONE. Like, done. What is a quote sandwich? Concrete Detail + Commentary Take a quote sandwich: In a small town like Maycomb, drama happens like a wildfire, especially with Tom Robinson. “I hope and pray I can get Jem and Scout through it without bitterness, but most of all, without catching Maycomb’s usual disease” (Lee 117-118). With Atticus defending Tom, the whole town turns the Finches into outcasts. Atticus wants his kids to be strong through the gossip and remarks. The kids have never felt this [prejudice] until they became outsiders.(Thanks Miss Preslee!) Concrete Detail Commentary

What you need to know… Make sure EVERYTHING within the paragraph flows together to make ONE IDEA Transitions, transitions, transitions!!! “Another example of prejudice…” “Prejudice could also be seen…” (etc etc) Your two first body paragraphs ALL need quote sandwiches. Your THIRD body paragraph (how you see prejudice today) will NOT have quotes. Just use 3 different ways you see prejudice as your Concrete Details.
